Meghan Markle, Prince Harry 'Breaking' a Royal Tradition, Unlikely to Follow Prince William, Kate Middleton

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry appear to be breaking with what appears to be a new royal tradition when it comes to planning a family. The Sussex pair are parents to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who were born just two years apart, which leads to speculations that a possible third addition to the family is on the way.

Are Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Planning to Have a Third Baby?

Many other Royal Family couples had three children, which appears to have become a form of royal tradition. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are the children of Prince William and Princess Kate, while Mia, Lena, and Lucas are the children of Zara and Mike Tindall.

However, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s prior comments about having three children together suggest that they consider their family is already complete. "I'm just grateful to have any child. Any, one or two, would have been amazing but to have a boy and then a girl what more can you ask for? Now we've got our family, we got the four of us and our two dogs,” the younger son of King Charles told Oprah Winfrey during Meghan’s second pregnancy, per Express UK.

Prince Harry, at the time, added that he and Meghan Markle were “done” with two kids, while the “Suits” alum agreed, saying, “two it is.” The Duke of Sussex has previously expressed a wish to limit his children to two as part of his efforts to safeguard and save the environment.

"I think, weirdly, because of the people that I’ve met and the places that I’ve been fortunate enough to go to, I’ve always had a connection and a love for nature. I view it differently now, without question. But I’ve always wanted to try and ensure that, even before having a child and hoping to have children,” Prince Harry told Dr. Jane Goodall in an interview with Vogue in July 2019.

"Two, maximum! But I’ve always thought: this place is borrowed. And, surely, being as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation,” the husband of Meghan Markle went on.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Face ‘Tension’ Over Christmas Plan

Meanwhile, a relationship expert claimed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could be in for a difficult Christmas this year as they allegedly fight over how to spend the holidays. The bleak forecast comes more than three years after the pair resigned as working royals and moved to California.

According to Louella Alderson, after a tumultuous few years in which relations between the Sussexes and the royals have worsened, Prince Harry may have a strong urge to return home for the holidays. She added that the younger son of the late Princess Diana may also want to educate Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet on UK traditions and customs at a period when they are most treasured.

"It's understandable that there may be some tension between Harry and Meghan over their Christmas plans. They have spent the past three Christmases away from Britain, so it's possible that Harry may feel a sense of nostalgia and want to return to his home country for the holiday,” Louella explained.

"It would be natural for him to want to show his children the traditions and customs of his country and his upbringing as they have predominantly grown up in America their whole life. Even though Harry is not close with the Royal Family at the moment, he still has old friends in the UK, which could explain his desire to spend Christmas there. On the other hand, Meghan may feel more comfortable celebrating Christmas in the United States again with her mother and extended family, especially given her negative experiences with the British press and the Royal Family,” she went on.

It remains to be seen if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will travel to the U.K. to celebrate the holidays with the other members of the royal family. Most, if not all, royal fans are aware that the Duchess of Sussex has not traveled to Britain since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.
