McDonald's is bringing back one of the customers’ favorite seasonal food items, and it will be a new addition to the menu this month. As the fall season is here, the fast-food chain announced the return of its Cheese Danish treat.
As per CNN Business, the returning menu invokes nostalgia as this was first introduced more than three decades ago already. While the season is known to bring the maple and pumpkin flavors, McDonald’s is offering something new since there is no rule that says it has to be a pumpkin for the autumn or fall.
The restaurant said it is offering the Cheese Danish for a limited time only, but customers will be treated to a fresh take on a similar pastry that it released for a short time in the 1980s. It was noted that this is the latest example where fast-food brands are tapping into nostalgia to stir up excitement among the customers.
At any rate, in place of pecan or pumpkin flavors, McDonald’s is set to offer the Cheese Danish starting Sept. 14. This is a must-try pastry that is filled with sweet cream cheese with a drizzle of light vanilla and buttery streusel on top.
Customers can buy them at any time at McDonald’s stores as they will be offered under the all-day menu option. This is the latest addition to the burger joint’s McCafe sweet bakery lineup that includes Apple Pies, Blueberry Muffins, Cinnamon Rolls, and Apple Fritters. These baked goods were mostly ordered in the morning and effectively revitalized the previously falling breakfast sales which are considered a crucial part of the company’s profits.
“The Cheese Danish, which is a fresh take on a pastry McDonald's first offered in the '80s, joins an all-star roster of McCafé Bakery items,” the restaurant said in a press release. “The McCafé Bakery lineup was introduced in November 2020 and continues to offer craveable sweets for customers that can be enjoyed all day long.”
Meanwhile, McDonald's chief executive officer, Chris Kempczinski, mentioned at the latest earnings call that breakfast has been the "strongest performing daypart" so they are always improving this segment in the stores. Thus, the addition of Cheese Danish is also expected to boost breakfast sales even for a short time.
