McDonald’s will be adding the McRib on its food menu options, and this is not something new because the sandwich is just making a comeback. The fast-food chain is said to have already set a date for the return of its popular item in the United States.
According to CNN Business, McDonald’s will be putting its McRib back in its restaurants in the country. However, this will be on the menu for a limited time only. It was reported that this was released again to mark the McRib’s 40th anniversary this year.
When the menu first debuted, it instantly became a favorite in the U.S. and since then, it has been making a comeback every now and then since it is considered to be a seasonal menu at McDonald’s.
At any rate, it was announced that the McRib is coming back to McDonald’s stores across the country on Nov. 1. This is a sandwich that has a boneless pork patty that is shaped like a regular rack of pork ribs.
The sandwich is completed with onions, barbecue sauce then enclosed in a tart dill pickle homestyle bun. Customers should note that the price of the McRib will depend on the McDonald’s location.
McDonald’s initially introduced the McRib sandwich in 1981 and it was available in Kansas City at that time. The restaurant took out the menu from its food selections after four years but since it has already become a favorite among the McDonald’s customers, rather than making it a permanent fix, the company has been adding it to the menu board from time to time.
“When you have these exclusive products, which exist for a short period of time, it gives people a reason to come to the store,” Alexander Chernev, a professor of marketing at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, previously told CNN Business. “For example, Starbucks customers get excited about Pumpkin Spice Lattes and holiday red cups.”
Meanwhile, as per People, the McDonald’s McRib is already a legendary sandwich and its return is expected to be another successful run for the restaurant. Aside from the U.S., this menu was also offered overseas including Germany, New Zealand, and France. However, McDonald’s UK already announced it will not be launching the McRib this year so it could only be available in the U.S.
