McDonald's Taiwan runs out of hash browns weeks after McDonald’s Japan suffered French fries shortage

McDonald's Taiwan aims to resume selling hash browns in the second half of this month after restocking while assuring that sales of french fries are "normal".

McDonald's Taiwan announced that some of its stores would have to suspend sales of hash browns due to an "unstable global shipping supply".

The company, which imports hash browns from the US, put up signs in some storefronts announcing the suspensions and listed the item as "temporarily unavailable" on its menus.

The fast-food restaurant also apologized to its customers for the inconvenience.

The coronavirus pandemic has caused supply chain shortages worldwide, affecting everything from building materials, books, microchips, and electronics to wood and food.

Last month, McDonald's Japan rationed French fries as the pandemic and floods in Canada had squeezed potato imports.

McDonald's Japan sold only small-sized fries for a week to avoid shortages due to delays in potato supply.
