McDonald's has extended its $5 Meal Deal in Minnesota due to its immense popularity. The promotion began in June and will continue throughout the summer, keeping Minnesotans delighted with their favorite menu offering.
Minnesotans Celebrate as McDonald's Extends Popular $5 Meal Deal Amid High Demand
McDonald's first reintroduced this popular menu item in Minnesota and across the country earlier this summer, and now it will be available for a while longer, per KROC.
In May, the anticipation was palpable as various media outlets reported the return of something consumers in Minnesota and nationwide eagerly awaited—a nod to a promotion the company first launched in 2002.
When McDonald's changes its menu, it garners significant attention, given its status as one of the largest restaurant chains globally. According to Visual Capitalist, McDonald's operates 13,444 locations in the U.S., second only to Starbucks and Subway.
In Minnesota, known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, a McDonald's location is always close. While the McDonald's site does not specify the exact number of places in Minnesota, 24/7 Wall Street estimates there are close to 226.
McDonald's boasts numerous locations and employs a large workforce. Many Americans have worked at McDonald's at some point in their lives. Yahoo News notes that 1 in 8 Americans (about 13.7%) have worked for or are currently working at McDonald's.
McDonald's $5 Meal Deal Extended Due to High Demand, Driving Customer Loyalty and Industry Buzz
The recent excitement among Minnesotans revolves around the return of McDonald's famous $5 Meal Deal, initially brought back for a limited time this summer. According to CNBC, the promotion started on June 25th and was planned to last about a month.
However, McDonald's has decided to extend the promotion due to its success. A memo quoted by CNBC highlighted the profound impact of the $5 Meal Deal: "Our message is resonating with our millions of customers," wrote Myra Doria, national field president, and Tariq Hassan, U.S. chief marketing and customer experience officer. "When our customers are ordering the $5 Meal Deal, they aren’t visiting the competition, and early performance shows this deal is meeting the objective of driving guests back to our restaurants." This reassures us of the positive influence of the $ 5 Meal Deal on customer behavior.
While McDonald's has not officially commented on the extension, Yahoo Finance suggests the promotion will continue throughout the summer. The success of McDonald's promotion is not just a win for the company but may also prompt other fast-food chains to offer similar deals, sparking a wave of new promotions in the industry.
