McDonald’s Introduces the Big Arch, a Hearty New Burger Rolling Out in Select Global Markets
More than eight months after McDonald's announced its plans to introduce a more enormous, more satisfying burger, the eagerly anticipated menu item is finally making its debut.
Officially named the "Big Arch," this substantial sandwich is being rolled out in select markets worldwide, including Canada and Portugal. McDonald's initially revealed its intention to launch this exciting new burger during its annual investor meeting in December 2023, responding to customer demand for more extensive, filling, affordable options.
"We believe we can deliver a great-tasting large burger at a superior value compared to what's available elsewhere," McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski told CNN at the time.
The Big Arch features two quarter-pound beef patties, three slices of white processed cheese, crispy onions, pickles, lettuce, and a new tangy Big Arch sauce, all designed to satisfy even the heartiest appetites. According to Eat This, Not That! this burger may even surpass the Big Mac in size, which contains two smaller beef patties compared to the quarter-pound patties used in the Big Arch and the Quarter Pounder with Cheese.
"We have heard our guests loud and clear and understand they are looking for a bigger burger on our menu, and we are excited to bring this new global menu item to Canadians," said McDonald's Canada Chief Marketing Officer Alyssa Buetikofer in the launch announcement. "This satisfying burger combines the familiar McDonald's flavors our fans know and love with some unique new ingredients, including a tangy new burger sauce created specifically for the Big Arch."
Big Arch Burger Launches Internationally; U.S. Fans Await Release Amid Pumpkin and Crème Pie Return
While the Big Arch has yet to be available in the United States, McDonald's has indicated that it will learn from these test launches before expanding the burger internationally. Fans in the U.S. should stay tuned for updates on when and where the Big Arch may be offered next.
Meanwhile, McDonald's customers in the United States have a new seasonal treat. The famous Pumpkin and Crème Pie, featuring dual layers of pumpkin and vanilla crème filling inside a pastry crust, has recently returned to select markets, including Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, Dallas, and Nashville.
