Despite the sequel fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr unlikely to occur, the boxing world couldn’t stop talking about the match. The former made waves last month after walking away victorious against Keith Thurman, a fighter in his prime that is a decade younger than the Filipino slugger.

Following that fight, many are hoping that Manny Pacquiao would fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. Among them is Floyd Mayweather Sr who said that if the fight were to happen, his son would undoubtedly walk away triumphant yet again.

Not only that, he claims that even if Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr were to meet each other multiple times, the result would ultimately be the same, Business Insider reported. The fighting senator has yet to respond from the 66-year-old’s taunting.

Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr’s future

Manny Pacquiao isn’t expected to return in the ring this year but would definitely be fighting again in 2020. The legend is hoping that Floyd Mayweather Jr would finally agree to the match, but nothing has materialized as of this writing. The undefeated boxer already said that he’s not interested in fighting professionally anymore as he’s worried about a potential injury.

Floyd Mayweather Jr also stated that all of his fight this year would be exhibition matches. Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao has yet to announce his next opponent. But his camp did say that they’re not interested in giving Thurman or Jeff Horn a second chance, so those are already out. For now, anyway.

Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr may attend Errol Spence’s upcoming bout

Errol Spence Jr fighting Manny Pacquiao is also unlikely to occur since the latter’s corner may be too worried about Spence’s power and overall boxing skills. The Truth is slated to fight Shawn Porter on Sept. 28. Reports are coming in that the Filipino icon and Floyd Mayweather Jr may be in attendance during the bout.

But despite the boxing world wanting a rematch, there are also a lot of people out there uninterested with the fight due to how the first one unfolded. Billed as the fight of the century, the match received heavy criticisms due to Floyd Mayweather Jr’s approach in fighting Manny Pacquiao. The fight ultimately ended with a unanimous decision favoring Mayweather as he danced around Pacquiao and outscored him through most of the rounds.
