MLB trade rumors are out as the trade deadline officially took place on Wednesday afternoon. Several reports named the Houston Astros as one of the big winners after they acquired Zack Greinke. Meanwhile, despite various rumors of Noah Syndergaard getting traded by the New York Mets, he ended up staying.
MLB trade deadline: Astros increase World Series chances
The Astros have one obvious goal in approaching the MLB trade market, and that was to get a better chance in winning the World Series. With Greinke now in the team, the Houston franchise now has its fourth starting pitcher along with Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole, and Wade Miley.
The deal that brought Greinke to the Astros was not just blockbuster, it was also a piece of exciting news to follow for many MLB fans that ended up being finalized at the very last minute of the trade deadline. The excitement obviously extends to the members of the team; for example, Verlander celebrated the trade deadline outcome with a post on Twitter.
Astros manager AJ Hinch was reportedly the one to break the news to the players while they were in Cleveland. When they finally got confirmation, Cole confirmed they were excited and “some hooting and hollering” were heard when news of acquiring Greinke was brought to them.
Wow... that escalated quickly! ???????????? @astros

Meanwhile, general manager Jeff Luhnow said (via MLB.com) that Greinke was their top priority during the MLB trade period. He added that they believe Greinke’s addition to the team sets them up for a good season that could lead to a World Series victory.
MLB trade deadline: Mets did not deal Noah Syndergaard
Aside from Greinke, Syndergaard’s name was one of the most rumored players to be traded last month. The 26-year-old pitcher was not the only one Mets was reportedly looking to move before the July 31 deadline, but he was the one that gathered the most interest from other teams.

Previous reports mentioned at least six teams have even sent scouts to check out Syndergaard during their game with the San Diego Padres last week. Syndergaard is one of the happiest in the outcome of the trade deadline. He made his feelings known by sharing a video clip from the “Wolf of Wall Street” where Leonardo DiCaprio’s character tells his colleagues he is not leaving. The tweet was completed with a caption, “Hey everyone, players only meeting in 5 [minutes].”
