Lush Retail Ltd. and The Super Mario Bros. Movie have teamed up to offer a range of limited-edition items that fans of Nintendo and the characters will like. The collaboration is also beneficial to the British cosmetics retailer as this can boost its sales.
Lush and The Super Mario Bros. Movie will offer various bathing products that will be exclusively available on Lush’s stores across Japan, its website, and its official app. The specially-designed collection includes Mario and Luigi shower gels, Princess Peach body spray, and a mystery Question Block bath bomb that has “power-up” soaps inside.
According to Marketing Interactive, the new collection’s Question Block is the first-ever bath bomb that comes with a hidden collectible soap of different colors and scents. The shower gels feature the main characters of the upcoming “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” - Luigi and Mario. Mario’s shower gel variant offers a red cola-scent fragrance to brighten up the bathroom, while Luigi’s green version has clean apple and rose scents.
It was noted that this is not the first time that Lush is collaborating with a major brand. In fact, it has already partnered with numerous companies to release unique, limited-edition personal care and beauty products.
Sora News24 reported that the release of Lush Japan’s new products featuring “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” is actually late already. It was said that the delay is probably due to the film’s release date in the country. Since the bath product collection is being offered to celebrate the movie’s debut, the partners may have timed the drop to coincide with the event.
The anticipated computer-animated fantasy film based on Nintendo's Mario video game franchise is coming to cinemas on April 5 in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and Australia. However, in Japan, the movie is set to hit theaters on April 28.
“We are very excited about the collaboration of 'Lush x The Super Mario Bros. Movie,'” -Stephanie Krause, senior vice president of global design and product development of Universal Media LLC products and experiences, said in a press release. “A movie-inspired collection is full of surprises and joy, innovative and iconic. We can't wait to hear what fans think.”
Meanwhile, the Lush Question Block Bath Bomb will go on sale in Japan for ¥2,400 or about $18.43.
