According to sources, Lenovo's upcoming Legion Go, a handheld PC blending Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch design elements, may feature groundbreaking AR glasses as peripherals. The innovative glasses might redefine large-screen gaming without needing TVs or monitors.
Although specific details about the glasses are scarce, leaked images reveal they will likely connect to the Legion Go through a USB-C cable. Furthermore, they are anticipated to offer a lightweight design suitable for long gaming sessions. While the exact functionalities of the AR glasses remain uncertain, one possibility is that they will provide users with a large screen experience without requiring them to connect the Legion Go to a TV or monitor.
Insiders claim that these AR glasses will boast a high refresh rate, a crucial feature for AR and virtual reality (VR) headsets as it helps minimize motion sickness. While exact figures have not been disclosed, the refresh rate is anticipated to exceed 90Hz.
Attendees at the forthcoming IFA 2023 event in Berlin can look forward to a firsthand look at the Legion Go and its accompanying AR glasses. Industry enthusiasts are particularly excited about the Legion Go's AMD Ryzen Z1 processor, which is expected to deliver outstanding performance comparable to competitors such as the Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, and AyaNeo 2S.
However, concerns have been raised regarding the potential price point of the Legion Go. If bundled with the AR glasses, it could be relatively expensive, potentially reaching around $800. This hefty price tag might hinder the device's mass appeal.
Another noteworthy consideration is that Lenovo may initially limit Legion Go's availability to China and other countries with a substantial Lenovo market presence. Such a restriction would be disappointing, as the increased availability of handheld PCs tends to foster more development and innovation in this space.
If the rumors prove accurate and Lenovo showcases the Legion Go at IFA, there is hope it will eventually launch in the U.S., U.K., and other worldwide markets.
