Lea Michelle joined other celebrities in taking to their social media accounts to express their views on the senseless death of black American George Floyd, who died at the hands of a white police officer in Minneapolis.
On May 30, 2020, the Glee star tweeted that Floyd did not deserve what happened. She added that it was not an isolated incident and that it must end already. She then put a hashtag of Black Lives Matter.
The tweet, however, misfired as her Glee costars replied with how she had discriminated them during the show.
The first one to point a finger at her was Samantha Marie Ware who accused Michele of making her question whether or not she should continue with her career in Hollywood as Michele made her first gig on TV a "living hell."
Ware even alleged that Michele had told everyone that she would shit on her wig if she had the opportunity. And that there were other microaggressions.
Other costars have joined in on the accusations with Jeanté Godlock, also tweeting that Michele had referred to the background on the set of Glee as cockroaches.
Dabier also accused Michele of not letting her sit with the other cast members because she did not belong there.
As a result, HelloFresh, a food delivery service, announced that they have immediately terminated their contract for an ad campaign with the Glee star. Thus, Michele will no longer be appearing in their advertisements.
On the official Twitter account of Hellofresh, they posted that they do not tolerate racism or any form of discrimination. The post further stated that the racism accusations on Michele were disappointing and disheartening.
The post added that they take the racism issue seriously; thus, they have immediately ended their agreement with Michele.
Michele, though, has yet to comment on the racism accusations as well as the termination of her ad campaign with HelloFresh.
