LAKEVILLE, Minn., Aug. 07, 2017 -- Lake Marion Chiropractic Center announced that its doctor, Dr. Craig Couillard, was invited to be part of the World Games Sports Medicine Team. The World Games took place in Wroclaw, Poland, from July 20-30. Dr. Couillard joined two other doctors from his area to provide chiropractic services.
Sporting authorities for big events typically set up medical teams just for those events. Before games, the teams check athletes over to ensure that they're healthy enough to play safely. They also provide services to help avoid injury. During and after games, they then help with any injuries athletes happen to get. These comprehensive services make sports much safer than they once were.
The World Games invited doctors and other professionals from all over the world to be part of the sports medicine team associated with its big event in Wroclaw, Poland. Dr. Craig Couillard was one of the three Minnesota chiropractors who received such an honor. He went to Wroclaw along with Drs. Scott Mooring and Timothy Stark. All are prominent members of the Minnesota Chiropractic Association (MCA).
"This is a tremendous honor, to travel across the ocean for this outstanding event, and to work with some of the finest athletes in the world representing the chiropractic profession in Minnesota," said Dr. Couillard of Lake Marion Chiropractic Center.
This isn't the first time Dr. Couillard has been connected to sports medicine teams. He is also the official chiropractor for the St. Paul Saints and the Hamline University Athletic Department.
"I greatly enjoy helping athletes reach their peaks by ensuring that there are no physical problems holding them back. I also love helping those who are injured not only get back on their feet, but back into their favorite games as soon as possible. Chiropractic care is excellent for this because it deals with the spinal and joint alignment problems that can come from the impacts sustained while playing sports," Dr. Couillard said.
