The question about the missing “Final Fantasy” characters continues despite the release of the “Kingdom Hearts 3” DLC “ReMind” earlier this year. And by questions, it mostly means fans still hoping for a Sephiroth-focused content to be added to the game’s development.
‘Kingdom Hearts 3’ DLC, characters: Why Sephiroth could still be included in the game
First, it should be noted that the Square Enix and the developers have made no particular promise about Sephiroth’s return in “Kingdom Hearts 3.” But it is also difficult to dismiss the fact that the character has been developed as one of the important aspects of the Dark Seeker Saga. And if this game is really where the saga ends, it seems quite a disservice to never include Sephiroth in any capacity.
This could be one of the reasons some fans are still hoping Sephiroth would make his comeback in the form of another “Kingdom Hearts 3” DLC. Screen Rant also commented that adding Sephiroth to the game this year would be a great homage to the release of “Final Fantasy 7 Remake.” Sephiroth was originally introduced in “FFVII.”
“Kingdom Hearts 3: ReMind” also shows fans that the developers have turned to DLC to address the disappointments over the lack of “Final Fantasy” characters in the base game. It is then not a wild suggestion for Sephiroth to be added to an upcoming boss fight in another DLC.
‘Kingdom Hearts 3’: Director Tetsuya Nomura explains why ‘Final Fantasy’ characters were initially missing
Director Tetsuya Nomura explained that the lack of “Final Fantasy” characters on several occasions before. He had a rather simple answer to the question that bugged fans even before the release of “Kingdom Hearts 3.” Nomura said it was because there were too many characters already included in the base game.
Fans started looking for “Final Fantasy” characters when the trailers of “Kingdom Hearts 3” were being released. The question turned to disappointment when the base game was launched. Nomura told US Gamer at E3 2018, “The reason you haven't been shown any Final Fantasy characters is that there are so many original characters that need to resolve their own problems and issues.” But the developers somewhat resolved that through the “ReMind” DLC, so it is only possible for the Sephiroth issue to also be addressed in another added content hopefully in the near future.
