There’s no denying that Kevin Love’s best days are now behind him. And with injuries plaguing him left and right, it’s understandable that a lot of people are considering his contract as one of the worst there is in the league right now.
However, there’s also no denying that Kevin Love is still a veritable threat on the court, both on the defensive and offensive end. He can space the floor, hit from multiple spots; has tremendous rebound skills, and his court vision is something to behold.
As such, Kevin Love still holds a lot of value for a team that’s aiming to enter the 2019-2020 Playoffs. Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley argues that the Washington Wizards can push its potential to new heights if the team makes a play for the big man.
Kevin Love going to the Wizards could also be catastrophic
But Buckley did acknowledge that Kevin Love paired with Bradley Beal and John Wall is also a recipe for disaster. All three superstars have been injured in the past with Wall suffering the most damaging one as he’s still recovering from a ruptured Achilles.
“The risks are through the roof— [Kevin] Love, Wall, and Beal all have or have had major injury issues—and the cost would be astronomic. But with Washington possessing so few attractive trade chips, this could be its only chance to trade for a possible difference-maker,” Buckley wrote.
Kevin Love continues his work on bringing attention to mental issues
Meanwhile, Kevin Love is continuing his efforts in bringing more attention to mental health issues as he recently sat down with Lenard Larry McKelvey, professionally known as Charlamagne tha God. The big man recounted a 2017 incident where he suffered a panic attack that got him sprawling on the office of athletic trainer Steve Spiro, Slam reported.
This isn’t the first time that Kevin Love opened up about mental health issues. In 2018, the talented forward wrote an essay for The Players’ Tribune detailing what it’s like to suffer mentally while playing at the highest stage in basketball.
The reason why Kevin Love wrote the essay was due to DeMar DeRozan also opening up about the topic, giving him the courage to do the same. In an attempt to solve this widespread problem, the Cavaliers superstar started a Kevin Love Fund that helped children cope with mental struggles that are often triggered by various factors in their environment. Love and DeRozan’s admission have been received positively not only by the NBA community but numerous groups outside of basketball as well.
