In recent shocking news, Kevin Durant admitted that he did undergo surgery due to a ruptured Achilles tended. This resulted in many fans becoming concerned that it could effectively put an end to the basketball star’s career. This could also result in the Golden State Warriors becoming less potent with one of its best assets becoming unavailable. Is it time to look for a replacement?
In a recent post on social media, Kevin Durant tried to reassure fans that his surgery was a success, The Guardian reports. The post also came with a photo of him on a hospital bed and tubes all around him. This is not the first time that the basketball star provided fans with an update of his own volition, either. This time, though, there might be more cause to worry than ever.
“What’s good everybody I wanted to update you all: I did rupture my Achilles. Surgery was today and it was a success, EASY MONEY,” the post reads. “My road back starts now! I got my family and my loved ones by my side and we truly appreciate all the messages and support people have sent our way."
“Like I said Monday, I'm hurting deeply, but I'm OK. Basketball is my biggest love and I wanted to be out there that night because that’s what I do. I wanted to help my teammates on our quest for the three peat. Its just the way things go in this game and I'm proud that I gave it all I physically could, and I'm proud my brothers got the W. It's going to be a journey but I'm built for this. I’m a hooper. I know my brothers can get this Game 6, and I will be cheering with dub nation while they do it.”
Despite the positive tone of the post, many are still worried that the injury might be a career-ending one for Kevin Durant. At this point, only time will tell. However, it would not be surprising if the team is already trying to find someone who could replace him.
