Kawhi Leonard is trending in the NBA sphere at the moment and it’s not about his impending free agency or any other drama. Rather, most of the noise is coming from people poking fun at the two-time Defensive Player of the Year.
Specifically, Kawhi Leonard’s dance moves during the All-Star game this past weekend. As can be expected from the player dubbed as a machine-trying-to-be-human, the 27-year-old was seen pulling robot moves after Team Lebron defeated Team Giannis. And of course, the Twitter-verse exploded with memes where they added songs during Kawhi Leonard’s footloose moments, SBNation reported.
On a more professional note, there’s still no news about Kawhi Leonard’s decision whether or not he’ll be staying with the Toronto Raptors. This isn’t surprising given Leonard’s taciturn nature. But the majority of NBA analysts are speculating that he will not be staying up north.
Instead, they’re predicting that Kawhi Leonard will be taking his talents to the Los Angeles Clippers. NBA pundit Adrian “Woj” Wojnarowski previously said that Toronto’s weather and geography will play a big part in the forward’s decision.
There’s also the fact that Kawhi Leonard is a Los Angeles native and playing at home could entice him to not commit with the Raptors. However, there are several factors that could sway Leonard’s decision to stay.
Among them is how the Raptors have treated him so far. Coach Nick Nurse has developed quite the relationship with Kawhi Leonard and has trusted him to be the main core of the roster. Serge Ibaka has also gotten close with the superstar and even gave him two nicknames during his stay with the team.
And wrapping all of these is the fact that the entire Raptor organization has taken care of Kawhi Leonard to the best of their ability. It can be recalled that part of the speculated reasons that made Leonard leave the Spurs is how they treated him when he was injured. While that tension has mellowed down, it hasn’t completely died out either, MySA reported.
