“Kabukichou Sherlock” episode 23 is the penultimate chapter of this anime. It means that there is one more episode to go before the series concludes, and it is not yet certain if there will be a second season.

Plot summary

As posted on Hulu, “Kabukichou Sherlock” episode 23 has been titled "Everybody Be There At Eight," and its short synopsis reads: “Watson desperately tries to track down Sherlock before he reaches the point of no return.”

In the last episode, the detectives seem to have gone on their separate ways, and they can’t even find Watson, who left without saying anything. In the case of Sherlock, he locked himself up in his home and going around naked without any care.

Irene found Watson and asked him to help her save Sherlock, who seems to be losing his mind already. Everyone is depressed, and it was all because of what happened to Moriarity. They can’t believe he is dead, and what’s even more shocking is the big reveal about his crimes.

After seeing how Sherlock is looking for Moriarity, he started to think that perhaps, Sherlock is right, and James Moran could still be alive and possibly controlling Sherlock. In “Kabukichou Sherlock” episode 23, Watson and Irene try to follow him because even the police think that Sherlock is the murderer.

Watson wants to clear Sherlock’s name in “Kabukichou Sherlock” episode 23, so he did his best to look for Sherlock with the help of Irene. Watson also asked the others to help him, but Kyoguku, Mary, Kobayashi, and Michel do not want to get involved, but in the end, they help Watson and Sherlock to get away when they were cornered by the police and Mycroft, Sherlock’s brother. It is clear that if not for Watson’s persistence, love for his friend, and Irene’s concern, Sherlock would have been totally lost in Moariarty’s manipulative brainwashing work.

Prediction

One fan suggested via Reddit’s “Kabukichou Sherlock” episode 23 discussion board Mycroft could be the prisoners who were not caught yet to frame Sherlock. Perhaps, he is doing it because he is still bitter that his brother left the West Side. Another possibility is that this is all Moriarty's plan. He wanted Sherlock to kill Watson and get his self destroyed, but why is the question that needed to be answered.

“Kabukichou Sherlock” episode 23 was scheduled for Japanese release on March 20, and the English dubbed has yet to arrive.
