Just Eat Takeaway has entered into a delivery partnership with McDonald's, and this was revealed on Tuesday, March 22. The largest online food ordering service in Europe said that the agreement is a long-term global strategic deal.
According to Reuters, the financial aspect of Just Eat Takeaway and McDonald's partnership was not disclosed to the public. It was said that the companies' agreement will support the development and growth of the fast-food chain's McDelivery business.
On the other hand, the online food ordering company will also benefit through the expected increase in demand for its service. It was revealed that the partners already had deals in individual markets, but this new global agreement is different because it will minimize complexity and enhance operational efficiency. Additionally, their agreement will push delivery growth as well as make the existing local agreements even better.
"We are excited to announce this new partnership with McDonald's which represents a next step in growing a mutually beneficial food delivery business and opens the door for further growth in the markets in which the partnership is active," Just Eat Takeaway's chief operating officer, Joerg Gerbig, said in a press release.
The Dutch company's COO further said, "The partnership will allow for Just Eat Takeaway.com and McDonald's to partner on initiatives to drive operational improvement, providing benefit to customers through improved speed and accuracy, while accelerating McDelivery order growth. Together with McDonald's, Just Eat Takeaway.com is committed to working on future innovations that benefit the customers, McDonald's restaurants, and couriers."
Meanwhile, McDonald's is one of the largest fast-food chains in the world, and its presence is visible in almost every nation. The company offers delivery at its 33,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries through a range of platforms such as Uber Eats and Grab Food. As for Just Eat, it has 500,000 couriers around the world; thus, McDonald's will be able to offer deliveries to more customers almost everywhere.
PYMNTS.com mentioned that McDonald's teamed up with Grubhub for deliveries, and this was later acquired by Just Eat Takeaway, so the partnership has shifted with the latter since 2019. Finally, the restaurant and the food ordering firm are expected to secure a bigger market share with their new global strategic agreement.
