Joe Biden proceeded to work even if President Donald Trump has not yet conceded. For starters, he has revealed his plan to control the coronavirus pandemic. The incoming U.S. president has formed a team that will focus on this escalating crisis today.
The whistleblower returns to work under Biden’s administration
What is interesting is that Joe Biden enlisted a former whistleblower against the Donald Trump administration in the team. As per USA Today, Rick Bright was added to the members’ list for Biden’s COVID-19 advisory board.
It can be recalled that in April, Bright raised concern about Trump’s response to the pandemic. He sounded the alarm over questionable drugs that are being promoted by the POTUS and his aides also ignored his warnings as the cases in the U.S. surged.
With the administration’s disappointing response to the crisis and downplaying the threat of COVID-19, he resigned from his post. Bright is an immunologist, a vaccine researcher and former director of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA).
Biden’s covid-19 task force
In any case, Joe Biden announced on Nov. 9 that dealing with the pandemic is one of the most important tasks that his administration will face. He shared that he plans to solve this with the help of experts in the science field.
“The advisory board will help shape my approach to managing the surge in reported infections; ensuring vaccines are safe, effective, and distributed efficiently, equitably, and free; and protecting at-risk populations,” AP News quoted the president-elect as saying in a statement.
The team formed by Joe Biden is consists of public health experts and almost everyone is a doctor. They will be supported not just by the new president but by vice president-elect Kamala Harris and chosen staff. Apparently, Biden is going for a scientific approach to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finally, the other members of Joe Biden’s coronavirus task force include David Kessler, former Food and Drug Administration commissioner under Bill Clinton and George W. Bush administrations, Vivek Murphy, Barack Obama’s former surgeon general and Dr. Zeke Emanuel, one of Obama’s former advisers.
