Jennifer Aniston is being rumored to have turned down the offer to act in the “Friends” reboot so the reunion is not happening. It was said that the reason for her refusal is her feud with the series’ co-creator Marta Kauffman. But, is this true?
The revival of “Friends” has long been in the news but for various reasons, the plan is not coming together. Now, it was alleged that Jennifer Aniston is the culprit.
Gossip Cop claimed that a news outlet stated that “Friends” can’t return as Justin Theroux’s ex-wife simply hates Kauffman. “Jen has a difficult relationship with Marta,” a source allegedly said. “Jen always believed Marta took more credit than she deserved for the show’s success and steers well clear of her.”
GC is refuting this report after fact-checking the details provided. The publication also talked with Jennifer Aniston’s representative and she confirmed it is “absolutely false.”
Apart from Gossip Cop, Jen’s latest interview with a magazine is proof that she is interested in doing “Friends” again if there is a chance. She appeared on the cover of InStyle’s September issue and her interview appeared on its pages.
The magazine asked her about the possible reboot of “Friends” and she said, “Before that show ended, people were asking if we were coming back. Courteney (Cox) and Lisa (Kudrow) and I talk about it,” she told InStyle. “I fantasize about it. It really was the greatest job I ever had.”
He added that she has no idea what her '90s hit show would look like today but she is not closing her doors. She also cited that many revived shows are still hits today so perhaps, “Friends” is also worth a try.
Moreover, when she appeared as a guest on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” she clearly stated in the interview that anything is possible when asked about the show’s reunion.
In fact, the real reason why a revival of “Friends” is not possible is that Kauffman previously said that it will never happen. In her 2016 interview with Deadline, she simply said, “We’ll never do it.”
