‘Jane the Virgin’ season 3’s episode 8, titled “Chapter Fifty-Two,” is set to feature Michael pursuing a different career in stand-up comedy after quitting his job as a homicide detective. Meanwhile, Rogelio is getting more serious about having a baby with his matchmaker.

The promo for “Chapter Fifty-Two” showed Michael (Brett Dier) confessing to Jane (Gina Rodriguez) that he has quit his job as a homicide detective. Jane is shocked at first but doesn’t seem to take him seriously when he admits that he wants to pursue a career in stand-up comedy.

In the next scene, Michael is seen standing on a stage with a microphone in front of him as he looks towards the audience speechless. Rogelio tells Jane, “This is a classic case of stage fright.” He also jokes that Michael may also be undergoing a series of “tiny, consecutive strokes.”

Meanwhile, Rogelio (Jaime Camil) is adamant in his pursuit of having a baby. He declares, “I’m all about Kabbalah!” as he shows Xo (Andrea Navedo) and Alba (Ivonne Coll) two bracelets of protective red string. It also seems that Rogelio is getting serious about having a baby with his matchmaker, employing Kabbalah red strings to ward off bad luck, according to Christian Times.

In the preceding episode, Rogelio got his heart broken upon realizing that Xo was involved with her ex-boyfriend Bruce (Ricardo Chavira) again. He went on to employ a matchmaker, Darci (Justina Machado), in hopes of having a baby but was unsuccessful in his venture. Darci then offered herself instead after not finding a match for Rogelio.

Meanwhile, Rafael (Justin Baldoni) may get to meet his biological parents in the incoming episodes after finding out that he was not a real Solano. Episode 7, titled “Chapter Fifty-One,” revealed that Rafael was born in Italy and was the adopted son of Marbella Hotel owner Emilio Solano (Carlo Rota).

This revelation may mean that Rafael is not the true heir to the family’s business and fortunes, according to International Business Times. The episode also hinted at Catalina’s (Sofia Pernas) back story and her possible connection to Rafael’s biological parents. It was speculated that Jane’s cousin may be keeping in touch with his parents and is using him to make money.

‘Jane the Virgin’ season 3’s episode 8, titled “Chapter Fifty-Two,” is scheduled to air on The CW on January 23, 2017.
