Hyundai will unveil the Casper Electric, named Inster EV in Europe, next week, aiming to set new standards for affordable electric vehicles.
Inster EV: Hyundai's Answer to Europe's Affordable EV Market
The Casper Electric, a new inexpensive electric vehicle from Hyundai, will be unveiled next week. In an effort to cater to the increasing demand for affordable electric vehicles in Europe, Hyundai has decided to name it the Inster EV. With the phrase "new standard for popularizing electric vehicles," Hyundai dropped hints about the Casper Electric last week in Korea.
The Casper Electric, Hyundai's first all-electric Inster for the European market, was teased last week. Hyundai claims that its Inster will "set new standards" when it comes to technology, safety, and range.
Affordable Pricing for Europe's Market
Electrek shares that the exact pricing of the electric vehicle has not been announced, but in Europe, it is anticipated to begin at less than $27,000 (25,000 euros). The gas model begins at about $15,000 in Korea.
According to Hyundai's teaser, the Inster will make its debut at the Busan International Mobility Show in Korea in late June. Although Hyundai usually debuts new models in Korea first, there are further reasons to be skeptical that it will be available in the US.
Per InsideEVs, the company is aiming for a range of 220 miles (355 km) on the WLTP cycle, which is used in Europe and Korea but not in the US. Second, and this is the most evident point, the Inster appears to be quite small. Despite several efforts by Fiat, Mini, and others, the fact that Americans are notoriously opposed to tiny automobiles appears to also apply to electric vehicles.
European Debut at Busan International Mobility Show
Michael Cole, the CEO of Hyundai Europe, has stated that the Inster EV will be introduced to the European market and that it will be followed by the unveiling of another IONIQ model later on in this year.
