UK ethical brand Hones has designed a lightweight reusable bottle made from 100 percent recycled single-use bottles (rPET), with its cap made entirely from recycled milk bottles (rHDPE).
Dubbed Honest Bottle, it is available in eight colors.
The bottle strap is presently manufactured from both virgin TPU and polycarbonate (PC), but the firm says it is actively exploring for a recyclable alternative with the necessary functionality.
The reusable bottle is a completely circular product, which means that the bottle and lid are accepted by domestic garbage collectors, and Honest has a strap recycling program.
According to Peter Goodwin, co-founder of Honest, driving down sales of bottled water must be the number one goal to limit the amount of single-use plastics in circulation.
Goodwin added that to achieve this, a dramatic behavioral change that switches consumers over to reusable is needed.
The 500ml Honest Bottle is the UK's first reusable bottle produced from UK-sourced recycled material, and it will initially be offered to consumers for £14 apiece via the brand's website.
Honest was created by circular economy company co-cre8.
