“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 16 will be returning this fall and fans can’t wait what’s in store for the residents of Grey Sloan. While most of the fans have been asking what’s going to happen to the main characters, some are wondering how the hospital itself will be transformed amidst the firing the occurred in the last finale.
“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 16 will be dealing with the fallout of Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) decision of committing insurance fraud that landed DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) behind bars. It also got two other residents fired along with Meredith herself.
With such a massive blunder and sudden reduction of experts in the facility, “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 16 could be looking at a major reshuffling within the ranks of Grey Sloan. Showrunner Krista Vernoff admitted that they’ve made some serious shakeups in the storyline and is unsure how they’re going to move from here on out.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 still doesn’t have a theme
“Nobody knows where anybody's relationship stands, and nobody knows what it's going to mean to Grey Sloan to have these three doctors be fired. Nobody knows what it's gonna mean to the series to have these three doctors fired,” Vernoff said. The showrunner also has yet to reveal what the theme of “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 16 is going to be.
However, some have already dubbed it “Sweet 16,” and the nickname is quickly spreading among the series’ fan base. But judging by how everything’s been set up, it appears that “sweet” will not rear its head in “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 16 until the latter stages of the installment.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 and the various impending heartbreaks
The story of Tom (Greg Germann) alone is enough to crush the audience’s heart as it appears Teddy (Kim Raver) has chosen Owen (Kevin McKidd) as her lover. Again. Tom was last seen building a nursery for Teddy’s child and is completely unaware of what’s been going on between Teddy and Owen. It’s for this reason, and several others, that some fans are dubbing “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 16 as the Season of Heartbreak.
But with every heartbreak comes healing and this will undoubtedly be highlighted in the next entry’s narrative. This is especially true for Jo (Camilla Luddington) since she’s going to be confronting her inner demons in “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 16 and will be seeking professional help to deal with the nature of her conception. As for when the show will be returning, ABC slated its release on Sept. 26.
