“Greenleaf” Season 4 still doesn’t have a release date yet despite the month of June ending soon. It was initially presumed that the fourth entry might return in the spring of 2019, but that assumption is proving off the mark.
Instead, “Greenleaf” Season 4 might be released sometime in the summer, although that, too, is up for debate as of this writing. Some fans are even worried that its mother network might have been canceled it as OWN is maintaining its silence about the renewal.
So what’s the real status of “Greenleaf” Season 4 and should fans be worried about its future? Looking at the ratings of the third installment, there is a slight cause for concern seeing that the figures dipped by 27 percent in the 18-49 demographic and declined by eight percent in overall viewership compared to the second entry, TV Series Finale reported.
However, given that OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) president Erik Logan said that the show has been consistent in bringing in satisfactory results, “Greenleaf” Season 4 is still in a good place even though it’s seen a minor downward trend. “Greenleaf is a cornerstone of our scripted programming slate and pulls in millions of viewers each week with its unique storylines and powerful characters. We are very proud of this show, the incredible cast, producers, and crew, and can't wait for more twists and turns from the Greenleaf family in season four,” Logan said.
As for the plot, nothing substantial has surfaced so far. Supposedly, the main plot of “Greenleaf” Season 4 might be focusing on the relationship between Bishop James (Keith David) and Lady Mae (Lynn Whitfield, Business Times reported.
In January, series star Lamann Rucker posted on Instagram that the cast is still busy filming. Thus, a spring release for “Greenleaf” Season 4 is the best bet for now. Hopefully, OWN break its silence regarding the show as fans are excited what the writers have come up with this time around.
