The New York Comic-Con (NYCC) just brought an exciting announcement for fans that may have been disappointed by the lack of “Gotham” season 5 announcements during the San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year. The biggest announcement from the show is the news that the caped crusader, Batman himself, will be making an appearance in “Gotham” season 5's finale.
According to Deadline, while the young Bruce Wayne may have been portrayed by David Mazouz during the course of the show, “Gotham” season 5's featuring of Batman will be set at least 10 years from “Gotham's” current timeline. It seems that “Gotham” season 5 will focus on the challenges of the final years that will lead to the creation of its most iconic hero.
Aside from confirming that Batman will be making his debut appearance in “Gotham” season 5's final episode, fans are treated to the news that “Gotham” season 5 will be introducing Bane – to be played by “A Walk to Remember” actor Shane West – into the series. West's Bane was confirmed to have some origin story changes when he is introduced, and fans have been teased that the villain will break Alfred's (Sean Pertwee) back in “Gotham” season 5.
In addition to Bane, fans can expect Hugo Strange (B..D. Wong) and Victor Zsasz (Anthony Carrigan) to return to the series in the final installment. Unfortunately, the roles that Strange and Zsasz will play in “Gotham” season 5 have yet to be revealed, leaving fans speculating if the characters will meet the end of their storylines in the season's final arc.
Fans looking forward to starting the final adventures of “Gotham” season 5's cast might have to sit tight for a bit. While the show may have announced some particularly exciting spoilers for the upcoming season during the NYCC, an exact premiere date for the show was not part of the news. Fans can hopefully enjoy “Gotham” season 5 sometime in 2019.
