Starting September 15, Google will permit advertisements for NFT games, provided they don't promote gambling and meet rigorous certification criteria, ensuring alignment with the company's updated policies.
Advertisements for reputable NFT games will showcase enticing in-game purchases, such as virtual apparel, weaponry, or armor, enhancing players' gaming experiences. These options offer customization and enrichment, adding depth to virtual excursions.
All these advertising initiatives will adhere to Google's newly revised ad policy. Google maintains a firm stance against game ads involving NFTs for betting or staking, which offer opportunities to win cryptocurrencies or other NFT-based rewards.
Similarly, simulated casino games that incorporate NFT rewards and promote gambling websites integrated with NFTs will continue to be strictly prohibited. For advertisers seeking to promote NFT content related to gambling, strict adherence to Google's gambling policy is crucial, and obtaining the required certification is mandatory.
This updated advertising policy will be uniformly applied to all Google Ads accounts. However, Google has implemented a considerate approach to policy violations.
Instead of immediately suspending accounts, a grace period is now in place. Advertisers will be notified at least seven days before any potential suspension, allowing them ample time to address and rectify any issues before facing serious consequences.
With an unwavering commitment to ethical advertising standards, Google expects all advertisers to comply with local laws in the regions where their ads are targeted. This cryptocurrency and NFT advertising policy will be strictly enforced across all Google Ads accounts that promote these items.
In the event of non-compliance, Google will provide warnings before taking any suspension action. This approach allows advertisers to rectify their practices and align with the updated policy. As the industry continues to evolve, Google's updated policies aim to balance supporting innovative technology and maintaining ethical advertising standards.
