“Goblin Slayer” Season 2 is poised to introduce new villains in the series given that it’s going to be starting a new arc when it returns. Called the Harvest Festival arc, Orcbolg will be dealing with a rather ambitious but dangerous antagonist in the second installment. This plotline is also speculated to cap off the upcoming season similar to how the anime use the Farm Battle to conclude the previous finale.
The main villain in this arc is called Dark elf, a member of the Evil Sect who plans to resurrect the Demon Lord after falling in combat against Sword Maiden’s party. In “Goblin Slayer” Season 2, Dark Elf will show himself during a peaceful gathering around Frontier Town. He’ll reveal that he plans to use the area as a sacrifice to summon an ancient giant that existed during the war of the gods, Monster and Critics reported.
With a goblin army at his beckoning, he marched towards the town only to meet the resistance put up by Orcbolg and company. The battle commenced, the advancing threat were repelled, and Dark Elf ultimately fell to the combined attacks of the Orcbolg and Elf Archer. While this arc is an exciting one, fans are hoping that “Goblin Slayer” Season 2 will be a two-cour installment.
This is due to the fact that the source material of the series still has a lot of interesting plotlines to offer. One of them is when Orcbolg and his squad traveled to the frozen regions of the north. The mission is to rescue a swordswoman who came from a royal line. If “Goblin Slayer” Season 2 will have twice as many episodes compared to its predecessor, there’s no doubt that this arc will be included in the installment.
This is especially true since this story will introduce the audience to another fierce villain called the Goblin Paladin. It could be said that this antagonist is Orcbolg’s counterpart. Where the titular adventurer made it his life mission to slay every goblin, the Paladin has also vowed the same promise with the humans as his targets. Both of these arcs are touted as one of the best stories offered by the light novel and “Goblin Slayer” Season 2 would do well to adapt both when it goes in production.
As for the release date of the second installment, it’s not expected to come out this year. White Fox’s reputation has always pointed to long releases and “Goblin Slayer” Season 2 will probably get the same treatment. As such, it’s been slated to drop sometime in 2020 with the production starting in the coming months, GameRevolution reported.
