When it comes to action cameras that are ruling the world, GoPro is still king in the highest of circles. However, some missing features are beginning to see a rather unfortunate effect on how attractive this offer actually is. To that point, many are clamoring for the return of the simultaneous video+photo function that was present in the GoPro 5 but not in more advanced cameras. They are hoping that it will be in GoPro 8 or it would be a deal breaker.
Among the rumors related to the GoPro 8, or more specifically, the GoPro Hero 8 is that it will be coming out around the latter half of this year, Business Times notes. During that time, there are a lot of features that customers would like to see but among the most overlooked is the simultaneous video+photo function. This basically means that users can take high-resolution videos and photos without having to switch from one to the other all the time.
While it is a good thing that the current iterations of the device are able to capture absurdly high-quality pictures and movies, there is a demand to be able to do both at the same time. Among those making such demands are the people working in the tourism and adventure industry. This is a market where the GoPro 8 is likely to be quite popular and to disappoint.
Now, it is true that users can simply take videos in 4K and then take screenshots from those clips. However, the result is nowhere near as good as simply snapping a photo in that instance. Adding the ability of seamlessly taking pictures while the video capture is still running in the GoPro 8 would make it infinitely more useful to such users.
Without the feature, a lot of customers will simply switch to other brands that do offer it. This spells trouble for the GoPro 8, especially with the company already losing out in the market.
