“Game of Thrones” Season 8 Episode 4 will be kick-starting yet another epic battle, this time between the remaining armies in the North and the sizable host of Cersei (Lena Heady). While this fight will undoubtedly be yet another crowd-pleaser, it will still pale in comparison to what occurred in the previous release.

Since the beginning of the series, the White Walkers were touted to be the biggest threat to humanity. But as has been shown, the Night King (Vladimír Furdík) was defeated in an anti-climactic scene when Arya (Maisie Williams) came flying from the shadows and stabbed the antagonist with Valyrian Steel. With the Night King gone, the excitement surrounding “Game of Thrones” Season 8 Episode 4 is deflated somehow.

But is he truly gone? Sam (John Bradley) previously said that real death only occurs when one is completely forgotten, that’s why the Night King wanted Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) dead. “Game of Thrones” Season 8 Episode 4 could hint that some essence of the Night King still lingers within Bran, especially since it hasn’t been shown that the Night King’s mark has been purged following his death.

If this is the case, then someone will need to kill Bran to completely eliminate any possibility of the Night King’s return. Arya may need to be the one to do it given Melisandre (Carice van Houten) said she’s destined to kill those with varying eye colors including blue. Bran has been described in the books as having deep blue eyes, a trait he inherited from the Tullys. Jon is also another candidate for this as it has been heavily hinted he’s Azor Ahai, the destined warrior who will put an end to the Night King’s existence. Either way, both choices will be heartbreaking. Of course, if this takes place, it will not be on “Game of Thrones” Season 8 Episode 4 as the story will revolve on the struggle between the Stark/Targaryen alliance and Cersei’s army.

Having said all of these, it’s important to remember that this is merely speculation and everything that’s been mentioned above could fall flat. Still, it would be interesting to see how the writers address the sudden death of the Night King and the obvious absence of the Azor Ahai prophecy. As for when “Game of Thrones” Season 8 Episode 4 will be released, it will air this coming Sunday, May 5.
