The past couple of years have been filled with various rumors about the gameplay and supposed release date window of “GTA 6.” As months go by, it appears that alleged information leaks also become more specific. Recently, another claim emerged online, saying that the next game would have an extremely massive gameplay map.
‘GTA 6’ gameplay rumors: Sequel to arrive with a massive in-game map?
Another post reportedly came up on 4Chan containing information from an allegedly aggrieved Rockstar Games developer who joined the development team last year. The “GTA 6” map, overall, is rumored to be as big as the combined areas of “GTA V” and “Red Dead Redemption 2.” It is claimed that the next game will include four main locations consisting of three big cities, with Vice City being one of them.
The game is expected to be inspired by the state of Florida, with one smaller city located in the northwest. “GTA 6” will reportedly introduce four main characters: Walter Wallace, a smuggler named Thomas Branigan; a single father called Marcus Burke; and a yet-to-be-named Israel Defense Forces veteran.
Video game fans, suffice to say, have had enough dose of gameplay leaks over the previous weeks. It is then not entirely shocking that “GTA 6” is getting the same treatment. However, it would still be wise to consume these supposed leaks with a healthy pinch of salt. Some of the features mentioned in the leak sound too good to be true, and without much solid evidence unlike what gamers have seen happened with “The Last of Us 2.”
‘GTA 6’ release date: Industry insiders in conflict about the next game’s development status
There has been plenty of back-and-forth among known industry insiders recently over the release date window of “GTA 6.” Jason Schreier, the journalist known for exposing the crunch culture in the video game industry, recently reported that Rockstar has gone through significant changes since his report came out. In the same article, it was briefly mentioned that the next main “GTA” installment is still in its early development.
Other leakers, however, commented and showed confidence that “GTA 6” has been in the works for a while now. The recent 4Chan leak seems to agree with this claiming that the development of the game has started in either 2016 or 2017 while pre-production began after “GTA V” became available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014. But Schreier has since responded saying, “Sorry dude, it is. Not what fans want to hear but that game is years away.”
