While “GTA 6” has been confirmed by Rockstar Games in a previous statement released by Leslie Benzies, there’s still no news when it’s actually going to be completed. There are a lot of factors that are speculated to contribute to this delay, with the top two being the incorporation of new technology and the devolving political climate.
Regarding the former factor, it seems that the gaming studio is aiming to create “GTA 6” with an emphasis on compatibility on next-generation consoles. It’s already been confirmed that development of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett is well underway and it’s not surprising that Rockstar is gearing “GTA 6” to fit these systems, Gear Nuke reported.
According to the publication, the gaming studio is currently looking for professionals that are skilled in environmental design, animation retargeting, facial animation tracking, and several others. All of these skill set suggest the studio means to take advantage of new technology that will likely be integrated into “GTA 6.”
Another factor that may be contributing to the delay of “GTA 6” is the political climate brewing in the United States. Co-writer Dan Houser said that, due to the ridiculousness of what’s happening in the country, they are finding a lot of difficulty in trying to satire current trends. Houser specifically referred to this as the “age of Trump,” GTABoom reported.
Since “GTA 6” is a game that revolves around heavy exaggeration of reality, this sort of path is becoming staler and would get old fairly quick. The third element that may be causing its delay is Rockstar’s penchant to create near-perfect games. “Red Dead Redemption 2” is the studio’s most recent testament to this fact, accumulating massive praises and accolades throughout the gaming market after it hit the shelves last October.
Having said all of this, it’s no wonder that “GTA 6” still hasn’t been finished. As such, the gaming community is speculating that the title will come out sometime between 2020 and 2022, with a possible extension still on the table.
