“Food Wars” season 4 should have been announced at this point. Fans suggest that it is because J.C.Staff is busy with its other projects for this year. Meanwhile, the available manga arcs yet to be covered by the anime series is also being questioned.
The Japanese animation studio J.C.Staff has been the producer of the anime series from the start. But other than “Food Wars” it is also popularly known for its other works. Just this 2019, J.C.Staff has released “One Punch Man” season 2 and has just finished with “A Certain Magical Index” season 3.
J.C.Staff also has a long list of ongoing anime series for 2019. Fans speculate that this much work might be a contributing factor to why no official details have been announced yet for “Food Wars” season 4. However, the studio has yet to address the real reason behind the delay.
Meanwhile, months after the Third Plate concluded there were some doubts whether or not the manga series has enough chapters for “Food Wars” season 4. And this concern remains valid today. At the moment, the manga series is currently at chapter 308 while season 3 concluded exactly at chapter 217.
Monsters & Critics pointed out that the entire Third Plate covered stories from 92 manga chapters. This means that the all the currently available manga contents are roughly enough to produce a two-cour “Food Wars” season 4. It is also unlikely for series creators Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki to favor the anime being this close to the manga series. A late 2019 release date for the Fourth Plate is very unlikely, but 2020 could offer more positive news.
On a good note, the manga series has been on a consistent weekly schedule. While waiting for “Food Wars” season 4 to be announced and released, fans might want to check out what happens in the Rebels vs. Central Régiment de Cuisine. They can do so by catching up on the manga series at chapter 218 titled “2nd Bout.”
