Fans of the culinary-themed anime and manga franchise are eagerly waiting for any official word on “Food Wars” season 4. It is now close to 10 months since the Third Plate concluded but the J. C. Staff studio has yet to confirm the continuation of the anime series. Should fans be worried that it is going to get canceled?
The first installment of “Food Wars” anime ran from April to September 2015, then season 2 was announced in December that year. Season 2 concluded in September 2016 while Third Plate was confirmed almost exactly nine months later. However, the wait for the official announcement of “Food Wars” season 4 is now the longest fans have ever experienced. April 25 will mark the 10th month since Third Plate’s finale aired.
So it is understandable if some fans are getting a little worried about the lack of “Food Wars” season 4 news from J.C. Staff or other official channels. However, there are other reasons to keep hoping and believing that the Fourth Plate is most likely happening.
It is safe to say that there is enough fanbase supporting the franchise, both in and out of Japan, that permits the making of “Food Wars” season 4. The manga series is also having new installments almost consistently every week. So there should be no issues with having enough plot for the anime adaptation.
The Third Plate also ended in the middle of a very important arc and culinary competition. Fans would certainly demand to see “Food Wars” season 4 so they can have a conclusion to the ongoing Régiment de Cuisine. Fans who have seen the manga series would also agree that the upcoming plots will pave the way for the characters’ development, not only for Soma.
On the other hand, there is the question whether or not there are enough manga chapters available to release “Food Wars” season 4 this year. While the anime series might not be canceled because of the ample fanbase, there is a chance that it might return with a new season at a slightly delayed schedule.
