It is well known, at this point, that Dwayne Johnson (Luke Hobbs) and Vin Diesel (Dominic Toretto) have not been getting along despite being in a movie together. The feud has gotten so bad, at some points, that they don’t even want to film scenes with each other. This is why a recent report about The Rock quitting if the franchise mainstay directs “Fast & Furious 9” could make sense if it wasn’t just tabloid garbage.
This latest round of misleading headlines comes courtesy of Star, Gossip Cop reports, which is infamous for simply being wrong on a lot of things a lot of the time. Its latest target is the “Fast & Furious 9” movie and its cast members, specifically, Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel. Based on what a supposed insider said, the original star of the franchise wants to direct the next movie and The Rock doesn’t want him to.
As a result, this supposed insider claims that if Vin Diesel does end up directing “Fast & Furious 9,” Dwayne Jonson would simply quit the films altogether. Unfortunately for the publication, neither the source nor the claims made could be corroborated.
“Vin is determined to direct the next Fast & Furious movie, but Dwayne and his team are threatening to drop out of the picture if he does. Vin and Dwayne can’t even be on set together,” the supposed source reportedly said.
“Any chatter about these two guys finally getting on the same page is a lot of hot air. They’re just as at odds with each other as they were a year and a half ago, and there’s zero reconciliation in sight.”
There could be some truths to these two actors not getting along on set. However, there is absolutely zero chance that Vin Diesel will be directing “Fast & Furious 9” or that he even wants to. After all, he himself announced that Justin Lin would be handling the film’s direction. That alone disproves this particular story.
