“Fast and Furious 9” has been on fans' waiting lists for so long that it is what people have been asking Vin Diesel about for so long since 2017's “Fate of the Furious” installment.
While most of the “Fate of the Furious” cast will most likely be rejoining what is said to be the second to the last installment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, it looks like “Fast and Furious 9” will be bringing back Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto – the old flame of the late Paul Walker's old character, Brian O'Conner.
While there has yet to be any details about what “Fast and Furious 9” will be bringing, Jordana Brewster's return may be as mundane as a simple cameo, or as significant as Mia Toretto becoming an important plot point for the future of “Fast and Furious 9.” This could also mean a more definite ending to Walker's Brian O'Conner, who was said to have retired in “Fast and Furious” lore since the beloved actor passed away.
The “Fast and Furious 9's” delay from 2019 to the following year has had a rocky timeline with issues about the franchise's spin-off, “Hobbs & Shaw,” causing the delay of the ninth movie. The scandal around the delay was infamously due to Tyrese Gibson, who plays Roman Pearce, posting accusations on social media about “Fast & Furious 9's” delay. The issues about the movie's delay have since died down.
“Hobbs & Shaw” will focus on Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham's characters, Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, respectively, and will start its production in September this year. British actor Idris Elba has been cast to star as the spin-off's villain.
Fans of the franchise will be glad to know that "Fast and Furious 9" will grace theaters on April 20, 2020, less than a year after "Hobbs & Shaw" is released.
