‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2’ is officially set to be released on September 2018. The sequel will feature the return of Eddie Redmayne as main protagonist Newt Scamander. It follows his continuing adventures in dark times in the realm of magic.
According to Variety, Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed that the upcoming second installment in the ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off series will premiere in theaters worldwide on November 16, 2018. The date was previously held by a project called “Untitled WB Event Film #1 (2018)”.
Warner Bros. statement issued a short statement regarding the sequel teasing Newt’s continuing adventures, according to Cinema Blend. It reads, “The second Fantastic Beasts movie moves deeper into an increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt and our other heroes have to decide on their allegiances.
David Yates will be returning to the direct the new series for a second time. The English filmmaker also directed the final four ‘Harry Potter’ films namely 2007’s ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’, 2009’s ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’, 2010’s ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1’, and finally 2011’s ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2’.
J.K. Rowling will be returning as screenwriter. It was reported that the author has already turned in a draft of the screenplay.
According to Collider, Yates teased, “We’ve seen the script for Part 2, for the second movie, which takes the story in a whole new direction – as you should, you don’t want to repeat yourself. The second movie introduces new characters as she builds this part of the Harry Potter universe further. It’s a very interesting development from where we start out. The work is pouring out of her.”
Rowling will be reunited with producers David Heyman, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram for the second film with Neil Blair, Rick Senat and Danny Cohen executive producing. Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne will be returning to play magizoologist Newt Scamander, the series’ main protagonist.
‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2’ is an upcoming fantasy film based on the novel of the same name authored by J.K. Rowling. It is scheduled to premiere on November 16, 2018.
