CHICAGO, March 15, 2018 -- Employers covered by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Electronic Record-keeping Rule must submit their 2017 summary of work-related injuries and illnesses by July 1, 2018. Enablon, a Wolters Kluwer business, today announced it has launched an API that makes the reporting process easier to manage, more efficient and more accurate. The new tool adds to Enablon’s extensive capabilities for incident management, investigation, regulatory reporting and analytics.
OSHA launched its online portal Injury Tracking Application in 2017. Companies that have to submit their 2017 summary of injuries and illnesses (Form 300A) on this secure website have three options to do this. They can opt for manual or CSV file upload, or automate the process with an API (Application Programming Interface).
Expanding its existing OSHA report generation functionalities, Enablon has created a direct electronic reporting submission for Form 300A. The out-of-the-box API helps customers manage the process of electronic reporting, with no need for customization by users.
“Companies need to submit the data for each individual site covered by the electronic record-keeping rule,” notes Taylor Allis, Vice President of Product at Enablon. “It can be challenging for them to have the visibility they need on the status and progress ahead of mandatory reporting deadlines. Enablon is one of the first to deliver a direct API and easy-to-use submission dashboard that helps automate this process and offers a real-time status of all establishments’ submission records in one place.”
Submitting the report with an API also increases the accuracy and reliability of the data, and reduces the time required to report. “As our customers log all injuries and illnesses in the Enablon platform as they occur, there is no need to further collate the data,” says Allis. “With the API, the data upload is automatic and just needs a quick review before submitting. It reduces the time needed for report submission by 75%, compared to extracting and uploading CSV files.”
The API functionality is available in Enablon 8.6.
