‘Emerald City’ season 1’s episode 5, titled “Everybody Lies,” will follow Dorothy as she is kidnapped and taken to West for interrogation. West then uses magic to extract information on her sister’s death. Meanwhile, Dorothy will finally make her way to the Wizard and the two are expected to face off.
The official synopsis for “Everybody Lies” posted on NBC states, “Desperately seeking revenge for the death of her sister, West (Ana Ularu) tracks down Dorothy (Adria Arjona) and uses enchanted interrogation techniques to get the information she needs.
The Wizard (Vincent D'Onofrio) seeks the aid of the Kingdom of Ev to build a weapons arsenal to help him defeat the Beast Forever. Meanwhile, an old acquaintance may hold to the key to Lucas (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) recovering his lost memories.”
According to Yahoo! News, Ojo (Olafur Darri Olafsso) will capture Dorothy and take her to West. Promotional photographs posted on showed West taking Dorothy as prisoner and intimidating her in a dungeon.
It seems like West will do everything in her power to extract information on the death of her sister East (Florence Kasumba) by means of powerful enchantment methods. However, it looks like Dorothy will somehow manage to get out of her predicament and end up in a carnival where she scores a horned mask that she uses as a disguise as she makes her way to the Wizard.
The promo for the upcoming episode opens to Dorothy being held captive by the Witch of the West. It is revealed that she will manage to escape containment and head out to meet the Wizard face to face. By the end of the promo, Dorothy successfully infiltrates the Wizard’s stronghold and holds a gun up to shoot him to which he asks, “Are you here to kill me?”
In addition to a showdown between Dorothy and West, it seems that episode 5 will also feature a much anticipated meeting between the series’ protagonist and the enigmatic ruler of Oz himself.
‘Emerald City’ season 1’s episode 5, titled “Everybody Lies,” is expected to air on NBC on January 27, 2017. Tarsem Singh directed the episode. It will be followed by episode 6, titled "Beautiful Wickedness," scheduled for February 3.
