‘Elite’ season 4: Has Netflix renewed the show? Cast update and plot prediction

“Elite” season 4 will be back to continue the series that just concluded the third season in March. Fans were able to watch eight episodes and it is getting more interesting because there is another death in the finale.

It was said that “Elite” season 4 is surely coming because it was already renewed even before the third season ended. As per Express, prior to the release of the third installment, “Elite” season 4 was already approved and this was reported on two Spanish media outlets called Formula TV and Bluper. The publications wrote an article about the show and these were published in January, two months before season 3 was released.

At that time, it was mentioned that filming for “Elite” season 4 will begin between the months of March and June but it seems this will not push through because the world is dealing with the coronavirus pandemic up to now. Spain is also one of the hardest-hit countries so there is no way that the drama’s production could push through amidst the crisis. Probably, this is also the reason why Netflix is not releasing an official renewal announcement yet.

Moreover, although filming will obviously be delayed, the initial news reports also stated that the streaming provider giant also gave the fifth installment a go signal which means both seasons 4 and 5 are secured. Once they resume filming, it was said that it will be a back to back filming schedule so that they can finish two seasons early.

Not all the cast members are returning

This is a piece of bittersweet news to the fans who have loved the cast since the beginning. It was confirmed that most of the original cast members are not returning anymore as the plot will change. Rumors circulating today even mentioned that the whole cast is set to be replaced but the truth is while more than half are leaving, few original members are still staying.

However, since the story will be different now, they will not be the focus anymore but will be supporting characters. The detail about the new casting was tweeted by an insider last month. Those who will stay in “Elite” season 4 may include Guzman, Samuel, Cayetana and Rebecca.

Plot prediction and possible premiere date

Cayetana will not be a student in Las Encinas anymore as she starts to accept that she is not an elite. She will be downgraded as a cleaner in the school so she will still be around. The setting might also move to a new location. Finally, “Elite” season 4 could premiere in late 2021 or early 2022 since filming is delayed.
