Bethesda has announced it is delaying the release of the Console Enhanced update for “Elder Scrolls Online.” On the bright side, its new release date is set just a week later than originally planned.
Here’s the new ‘Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced’ release date
In a blog post on Monday, Bethesda revealed that delaying “Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced” was decided so it can give the upgrade’s release and the launch of the next DLC chapter “undivided attention.”
“Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced” was originally planned to launch along with the release of Update 30, which contains the “Blackwood” chapter, on June 8 for PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The delay means the new-gen console upgrade will be available on June 15. “We apologize for the inconvenience, but we want to ensure that everything launches smoothly during this very busy time,” Bethesda wrote.
The game currently runs at a capped framerate of 30 FPS on PS4 and Xbox One. But the release of “Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced” will allow the MMORPG to run at up to 60 FPS. Bethesda also promised the update will deliver almost double the draw distance from the game’s performance on last-gen consoles.
Thanks to the faster SSD available in Xbox Series X/S and PS5, the “Elder Scrolls Online” upgraded version’s load times are expected to be cut in half compared to older consoles. Bethesda is also bringing improvements in the Depth of Field, shadow resolution, reflections, and ambient occlusion with screen space global illumination to make the game’s visuals appear more realistic. Like with most PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrades, the “Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced” will be available for free.
‘Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood’: What to expect
Considering how huge “Elder Scrolls Online” Update 30 is going to be, it is quite understandable that Bethesda wants it to be released by itself on June 8. Aside from much-needed patches, the update will also include the “Blackwood” DLC chapter.
The upcoming DLC’s main feature is the titular location. While this area is new, the story that it will unravel is connected to an older title in the franchise. The new chapter serves as somewhat a prequel as it features events that take place 800 years before the plot of “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.”
