“Elden Ring” is likely one of the most anticipated games to be presented in the upcoming E3 trade show. With Bandai Namco confirmed to have an event during E3 next month, it seems more possible for a new trailer to be released. However, that is not what the rumor mill is suggesting.
Jeff Grubb is ‘doubtful’ that ‘Elden Ring’ will be at E3 2021
First, it is important to note that Bandai Namco is the publisher of “Elden Ring” and the actual making of the game relies on the Japanese developer FromSoftware. And well-known video game insider Jeff Grubb suggests that the latter is too focused on making the game that may be making it impossible for them to allot extra work to prepare something for E3 2021.
Making trailers does require significant time and effort from developers since they cannot just randomly put snippets of the game in it. Trailers set the tone, especially for a much-awaited title “Elden Ring.” In the latest podcast episode of Jeff Grubb’s Game Mess, the report said, “Bandai Namco is kind of going back to [FromSoftware] and saying, ‘Hey, can we make this happen?’ And I think [FromSoftware] is just like, ‘We are just working too hard on actually trying to make the game to stop and do something for E3.”
Grubb added that he is “pretty sure” “Elden Ring” will not be part of the Xbox media event for E3 2021, even though it is still believed to be the marketing partner for the upcoming game. So the small chance for a new trailer presentation, if there is any, is expected to happen during the Bandai Namco event.
‘Elden Ring’ release date may have been pushed to 2022
If E3 happens and no new “Elden Ring” trailer is shown, it would be another indication that the game is getting less likely to launch this year. It is worth noting that FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have yet to provide release date details, but that could also be taken as an indication that the developer still has more to do for the game before making any promises.
Earlier this month, the financial forecast of FromSoftware’s parent company Kadokawa was believed to have offered a hint at the possible release window of “Elden Ring.” Simply put, there is no major boost in video game sales expected in the corporation’s financial year 2022, ending on March 31, 2022. With that, theories have been formed that the game might not be released until after the first quarter of 2022.
