Anyone who has ever watched the “Dragon Ball” franchise for several arcs will likely understand how Goku is the ultimate Mary Sue. This is basically the term used to brand someone as being overpowered by virtue of the plot. In “Dragon Ball Super,” this could not be more apparent, especially in the way that he keeps on finding new strength every time he is brought low by more powerful enemies.
The most recent example of Goku having the most powerful force called plot armor protecting him is when he fought with Jiren and came back stronger than ever, CBR recently reported. In an event that should have obliterated him, “Dragon Ball Super” saw the character push himself even further. This is nothing short of a cheat that proves how low this franchise has fallen.
Simply put, Goku was basically blown to bits by his own attack when Jiren slapped the spirit bomb right back at him in the “Dragon Ball Super” tournament. When it exploded, the force of the attack caused a vacuum to form, sucking the Saiyan in. Instead of rightly being destroyed, however, he came back with an inexplicable new power that could only be justified by saying that Goku touched on even more of his potential.
How deep does his potential even go? He has been doing the same thing since the Freeza arc where he first turned Super Saiyan. Since then, he just kept on tapping on this seemingly endless source of an overpowered plot device. “Dragon Ball Super” is simply the worst offender of all the forms that this franchise has taken.
Simply put, “Dragon Ball Super” is proof that the folks behind the property are not even trying anymore. Considering how he just keeps getting stronger without much of an explanation, they might as well end the whole thing by saying that “Goku got stronger than everyone and defeated them. The end.”
