The first season of “Dr. Stone” anime series will premiere this week. Some lucky fans will have the chance to watch the pilot episode one day earlier than the rest of the world.
To be included among those lucky fans, they have to be able to attend the 2019 Anime Expo. Crunchyroll, which has the license to stream “Dr. Stone” season 1 all over the world except Asia, will hold a special event at the said convention at the Main Events Hall B of the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The special event’s main attraction is the presentation of “Dr. Stone” episode 1 that will be followed by a Q&A session with anime producer Shusuke Katagiri and manga editor Hiroyuki Honda. Fans who will be able to attend the expo must take note that the “Dr. Stone” event hosted by Crunchyroll starts at 12 p.m. PT on Thursday, July 4.
Then on Friday, July 5, “Dr. Stone” season 1 will officially stream on Crunchyroll and will air on the Tokyo MX among other Japanese TV networks. Funimation previously announced they would release a simuldub of the rookie anime series for its summer lineup. But a specific release date has yet to be revealed.
Meanwhile, on Monday, July 1, producers are going to release the first 12 minutes of “Dr. Stone” episode 1 as part of its promotional strategies. Unfortunately, this might also not be available in several regions.
In the manga series, the story of “Dr. Stone” begins with Taiju telling his close friend Senku that he is going to confess his love for another friend Yuzuriha. But the supposedly romantic scene will be interrupted by a phenomenon that will turn every human into stone.
Series synopsis indicated that the science-loving character, Senku, will wake up after thousands of years and find a solution to wake up humans from their stone forms safely. He begins his work in “Dr. Stone” by bringing back Taiju. It is then up to these two friends to work together and bring back the civilization while battling someone who wants to destroy the remnants of the world before the mysterious phenomenon.
