The second trailer for “Detective Pikachu” is out and fans now have a clearer understanding of what this movie is about. However, the clip is not the only interesting development with regards to the film. For example, there is the matter of the film releasing on the third week of the summer, which is a huge boon for the movie. What’s more, there are rumblings that the movie is intended to spawn sequels with more adult-oriented themes.
While there are a lot of things about the most recent trailer for “Detective Pikachu” to be excited about, its premiere date makes for a more interesting find, as Forbes reports. The movie was supposed to come out on the second week of the summer, which has long been considered a cursed premiere period. Fortunately, “Avengers: Endgame” made some changes to its own release date, thus saving the Ryan Reynolds film.
Thanks to the extra week given to “Detective Pikachu” to put more space between the movie and the next “Avengers” flick, there is a bigger chance for it not to flop. On that note, there are also expectations that it will do much better in overseas markets anyway, particularly in China.
Speaking of “Detective Pikachu” speculations, there have been rumors about the film possibly leading to the creation of a franchise. What’s more, this franchise could be geared more towards older audiences than the demographics typically associated with these kinds of projects. For those concerned that there might be some f-bombs dropped in the future, it’s not likely to be that drastic.
In the new trailer, for example, a swear word was said by a character related to Nintendo. This could mean that “Detective Pikachu” is willing to take more chances in the future in conveying more mature themes. If so, the person handling it will need to walk a very fine line.
