Deputy U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche met Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted associate of Jeffrey Epstein, at a federal courthouse in Tallahassee, Florida, on Thursday and is scheduled to meet her again Friday. Maxwell, serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, was convicted in 2021 and is currently appealing her case.
Maxwell’s attorney, David Oscar Markus, described the meeting as “very productive,” adding that Maxwell fully answered Blanche’s questions but declined to disclose details. Images captured by ABC News showed Blanche arriving with acting Associate Deputy Attorney General Diego Pestana.
Earlier this week, Blanche confirmed he contacted Maxwell’s legal team seeking information about potential crimes involving others connected to Epstein, whose death in 2019 while awaiting trial continues to fuel public scrutiny. President Donald Trump and his administration have faced mounting calls from supporters to release more details about the Justice Department’s Epstein investigation, particularly regarding high-profile figures allegedly linked to Epstein’s network.
Although Attorney General Pam Bondi had previously promised to release more materials, the Justice Department recently stated there was no evidence of a client list or blackmail, reversing earlier expectations. The department has also attempted to unseal grand jury transcripts, but U.S. District Judge Robin Rosenberg denied a request Wednesday, citing secrecy rules.
Epstein’s flight logs from the 1990s, which included Trump’s name among many others, have been partially released this year, adding to public interest in the ongoing probe. The Justice Department has pledged to share further findings “at the appropriate time.”
This latest development underscores continuing efforts to examine Epstein’s network and whether additional crimes against victims remain undisclosed.
