‘Daredevil’ season 3 was officially renewed on Netflix following the debut of upcoming Marvel television shows ‘Luke Cage’ and ‘Iron Fist’. The news was announced during the San Diego Comic-Con held at the San Diego Convention Center.
According to the Independent, Netflix officially confirmed that ‘Daredevil’ will be returning for a third season during the San Diego Comic-Con. The announcement followed the debut of the trailers for two brand new Marvel television shows namely ‘Luke Cage’ and ‘Iron Fist’.
Charlie Cox will be donning his superhero garb as the series’ titular character but a release date is yet to be confirmed. Cox gained international fame for his work on numerous films and television series prior to being cast as Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil.
The 33-year old British actor worked on 2004’s ‘The Merchant of Venice’, 2005’s ‘Casanova’, 2007’s ‘Tristan’, and 2014’s ‘The Theory of Everything’. He also appeared in television shows such as ‘Downton Abbey’, ‘Moby Dick’, and ‘Boardwalk Empire’.
The web television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) first premiered on Netflix on April 2015. It introduced Matt as a blind lawyer who uses his heightened senses to fight crime by night.
Season 2 followed on March 2016 and followed Matt as he struggled to balance double life while crossing paths with another deadly vigilante as well as his ex-girlfriend who became a mercenary.
The series is based on the Marvel comic book character of the same name and was created for the small screen by Drew Goddard. It is the first in a series of shows that will lead up to the ‘Defenders’ crossover miniseries.
It also introduced popular characters Elektra Natchios played by Elodie Young and Frank Castle a.k.a. the Punisher portrayed by Jon Bernthal. It remains unknown whether other cast members will be returning for a third season run.
According to Collider, no further details were mentioned regarding season 3 of ‘Daredevil’. However, it was speculated that a new villain will be introduced in the form of Bulls Eye.
Bulls Eye is a mysterious and psychopathic assassin who has a personal vendetta against Daredevil. Although he possesses no actual super powers, he is a skilled acrobat, martial artist, and expert marksman who is able to use any object as a lethal projectile. He also has enhanced durability attributed to the fusion of strips of adamantium to his skeleton that renders his bones indestructible.
‘Daredevil’ is a crime-drama and superhero television series that airs on Netflix. It is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios. Steven S. DeKnight served as a showrunner for season 1, with Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez for season 2.
