Proving initial speculations about “Daredevil” Season 3 returning to Netflix in 2019 wrong, the platform’s CEO just confirmed that the hit superhero show would be coming back later this year. This is exciting news for those who have been waiting eagerly for any details regarding the series. What’s more, it seems this season will be trying to mimic or even surpass the excellent reception of the first.
As Comicbook.com notes, many people thought that “Daredevil” Season 3 would not be making an appearance this year. This was a natural conclusion considering how fully-booked the year is looking. The second seasons of both “Jessica Jones” and “Luke Cage” have already come out, and season 2 for “Iron Fist” is also scheduled for release this year.
These have been confirmed for quite some time, leaving “Daredevil” Season 3 as the only blank on the slots. Thanks to a recent announcement by Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos in an earnings report, though, doubters about a 2018 airing have finally been silenced. On that note, the exact air date has yet to be released.
"In the short term, we've got new seasons coming up, in the second half of this year, of Orange is the New Black, Ozark, Iron Fist, Daredevil, Narcos, the finale of House of Cards, the follow-up series to Making a Murderer," Sarandos revealed near the end of the report.
With that said, many fans of the series are still worried that “Daredevil” Season 3 is going to have issues with storytelling, just as season 2 had. Netflix VP of original content, Cindy Holland recently tried to allay these fears by saying that this season is “Daredevil’s” return to form, Screen Rant reported last week.
The show will try to replicate the success of season one, which was universally praised for practically every aspect. Netflix is trying to accomplish this by putting main show antagonist Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) back in focus for “Daredevil” Season 3. The fact that Erik Oleson is the new showrunner can also give fans hope that the show will finally get back on track.
