The season finale of “Dancing With The Stars” left everyone in shock when Rashad Jennings and his dance partner Emma Slater were declared competition winners.
The Baltimore Sun said the pair garnered a total of 119 points for their performances in the finale from judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, and Julianne Hough, besting David Ross and partner Lindsay Arnold, who scored 109, and Normani Kordei and partner Val Chmerkovskiy, who scored 117. But what had made people, and even the judges more shocked was that retired Cubs catcher had bested the Fifth Harmony member.
One viewer expressed her disappointment in a tweet, which read, “SO THE COUPLE WHO HAD THE MOST PERFECT SCORES THE WHOLE SEASON COMES IN 3RD??? DAVID AND LINDSAY ONLY HAD ONE PERFECT SCORE #dwtsfinale”
Even celebrities like Alessia Cara and Hailee Steinfield also chimed in their frustration about the results, Buzzfeed noted. Fifth Harmony bandmate Lauren Jauregui seemed pissed, and wrote, “Weeeeellllllllllllll we all know who REALLY won that right?! My bby girl is the queen for LYF @NormaniKordei I'll make u a mirror trophy.”
After the live show finale, the 20 year-old expressed her thoughts to Entertainment Weekly. She said, "It was quite a shocker for me as well, but I've gained so much from this experience. I'm so happy, and I can't even begin to express you know the gratitude that I carry and the blessing especially because I have a lifelong friend now [in Val]."
