Following a successful debut with the Cybertruck, Tesla is extending its wrap customization feature to more vehicles. The 2024 Holiday Update introduced a new era of personalized infotainment, letting users create digital avatars. Now, this capability will transcend the Cybertruck, reaching a broader audience.
Tesla Expands Cybertruck Wrap Feature to Other Models
A feature that was included in the last holiday update—a capability that allows drivers to personalize their infotainment center Cybertruck avatar—will soon be available to more models, according to Tesla.
The Tesla Cybertruck X account earlier this week posted a screenshot showing the Cybertruck avatar with a custom wrap on the infotainment center. They also included a link to the instructions on how to create the wrap on GitHub.
The functionality originally appeared in the Cybertruck with Tesla's 2024 Holiday Update, but the account also promised that "wrap & license plate customization coming to other models in future updates." In response to another user, the feature was further elaborated.
Customizing Cybertruck Wraps Using Tesla’s Pre-Made Templates
The provided instructions state that users must make use of a pre-made template to design their own image, which must also meet certain specifications including having a maximum file size of 1 MB, a resolution of 1024×768, and being in the .png format. After that, users should use a USB drive to make a folder named "Wraps." Then, they should put up to 10 photos of custom Cybertruck wraps into that folder and insert the USB drive into the vehicle.
When they're done, go to the Toybox and choose "Paint Shop" followed by "Wrap" to access the personalized digital wraps.
Tesla Holiday Update Highlights Cybertruck Personalization
The following is Tesla's statement regarding the feature as it appears in the release notes for the holiday update:
"Personalize your Cybertruck avatar with a custom wrap & license plate! Use one of many preloaded designs or create and upload custom ones using a USB flash drive. Details on template and instructions will be published via Github"
What’s Next for Tesla’s Wrap Features Across Models
It's unclear when other models will get the features from Tesla just yet, but considering the hype around Cybertruck wraps, it makes reasonable that they would be the first to get them, Teslarati explains.
Even though they provided up to eleven different Cybertruck wrap colors in March, Tesla removed most of them in September.
